Meet Steve Weiss
I’m a leadership coach, educator, and former executive with more than 30 years of experience—and someone who’s been through reentry myself. That lived experience shapes how I work. I understand what it means to start over, to lead while carrying real weight, and to navigate systems that weren’t designed to support you.
I also believe leadership isn’t just about roles or titles—it’s about how you live. It’s about aligning your actions with your values, building strong relationships, and pursuing what matters with clarity and purpose. Whether you’re stepping into a new role, returning after time away, or growing into your next chapter, leadership development helps you build the skills to get there—skills like communication, decision-making, emotional intelligence, team building, and creating balance. More than 80% of employers now say those human skills matter more than technical ones—and I’ve seen firsthand how they change lives.
For over two decades, I led a large, mission-driven organization through growth and change. I’ve managed teams, shaped vision, handled conflict, and mentored leaders at every level. I’ve also worked in community organizing and advocacy—building coalitions, supporting systems change, and helping people be heard. That combination of executive leadership and lived experience is what grounds my work today.
Who I Work With
I partner with people who are rebuilding—returning citizens, refugees, veterans, people in recovery, and others who’ve been out of the workforce for years. I also work with nonprofit professionals, frontline supervisors, and leadership teams navigating real-world complexity. Many of my clients haven’t had access to coaching before, but they’re ready to grow—and I’m here to support that with structure, clarity, and respect.
How I Work
My coaching is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and rooted in partnership. I’m trained in ICF coaching methods and certified in the Hogan Assessment. I don’t bring a formula—I bring curiosity, honest questions, and deep listening. I also design and lead interactive workshops and multi-session leadership programs focused on building practical skills that help people lead more effectively in life and at work.
What I Bring
I help people grow into leadership that fits who they are and what they’re called to do. I coach through transition, challenge, and reinvention—with an eye toward clarity, confidence, and real alignment. I support individuals stepping into new roles, teams trying to work better together, and organizations navigating change. Whether you’re building something new or refining what already works, I bring steady partnership and practical tools to help you lead with purpose.
A Bit More About Me
I was born in Chicago and raised in California. I love long-distance cycling, backpacking, and camping. Travel grounds me. So does music—especially jazz, classic rock, and anything that tells the truth. I’m a baseball fan, a curious learner, and someone who believes growth is always possible—even when it’s hard-earned.
